Slot Feature Descriptions: Wilds, Scatters and Multiplier Wording
Compare slot feature wording, identify missing conditions and separate displayed multipliers or bonus labels from verified payout rules.

Slot feature names can sound precise while leaving important conditions unstated. “Expanding wild,” “bonus round” or “multiplier” needs a definition for the exact game version. Comparing features means comparing their documented scope, not choosing the most dramatic preview.
The slots guide hub groups the related guides. The beginner rules guide explains paytables and arrangements. This article does not verify a current 96M title, provider partnership or prize.
Ask what the feature changes
A feature can change symbol positions, add a rule for a particular round or display a separate counter. Its name alone does not establish which part of the game is affected. Check the trigger, duration and exclusions, and whether the rule applies to the main game or a separate feature state.
| Feature wording | Missing detail to resolve |
|---|---|
| Wild substitution | Which symbols and positions are eligible? |
| Expanding or sticky symbol | Where does it apply and when does it stop? |
| Extra rounds | What trigger, count and retrigger conditions are defined? |
| Multiplier | Which base amount is multiplied and when is it assessed? |
| Maximum win | What cap, unit and conditions does the document specify? |
Identify the base of a multiplier
A multiplier is incomplete without its base. A displayed factor might apply to one qualifying symbol arrangement, a feature total or another rule-defined amount. Two features with the same headline factor are not necessarily equivalent.
For a fictional reading example, “times five” cannot be interpreted as five times an account balance unless the rule explicitly says that. The example identifies a missing definition and does not describe an available offer.
A multiplier example: the same 5× label, two amounts
Suppose a fictional rule says a 5× multiplier applies to a qualifying RM2 payout. The resulting payout is RM2 × 5 = RM10. Another fictional rule says the amount is 5× a RM1 total stake, producing RM5. The factor is identical; the base and resulting amount are different.
| Wording in the invented rule | Base | Calculated amount |
|---|---|---|
| 5× qualifying payout | RM2 qualifying payout | RM10 |
| 5× total stake | RM1 total stake | RM5 |
These amounts are payouts under invented wording, not net profit, odds or current offers. Real rules must also explain which outcomes qualify, whether a cap applies and whether multipliers combine. If two factors are displayed, do not assume they multiply together unless the rules say so.
Separate a bonus feature from a promotional bonus
A game feature called a bonus is part of the game’s rule set. Promotional credit is an account or offer condition. The same word does not make them interchangeable. The reward-type comparison addresses promotional terms rather than symbol mechanics.
Likewise, a feature being described as “free” does not establish that it can be accessed without conditions or that its results are withdrawable. Identify which document governs the statement.
Do not compare on artwork alone
A themed character, a highlighted symbol or a large number can illustrate a feature without documenting its likelihood. Provider branding is not a testing report. A screenshot should include the title, rule version and date if it is used to support a comparison.
The RTP versus volatility guide explains why a theoretical average is different from a distribution of outcomes. A feature list by itself supplies neither figure and cannot establish the result of a future play.
Leave unanswered questions visible
Make a short record of the feature name, exact quoted condition and unanswered detail. If the rule is absent, mark it unknown instead of copying a claim from another title. There is no need to spend money to resolve an incomplete description, and no feature comparison provides a guaranteed financial return.
